Like so many sports teams, the Baltimore Orioles have realized the power of the social game. Before Wednesday night’s MLB matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays at Camden Yards, the Orioles played kids from the Maryland Table Tennis Center. USA Table Tennis Hall of Famer Larry Hodges was there together with four of the nation’s top juniors. Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy is one of the best table tennis players in baseball and he teamed up with Darren O’Day, Tommy Hunter, catcher Taylor Teagarden and Nick Markakis to play against the likes of Derek Nie – the 2012 U.S. Open 11-and-under singles champion.
