We have already seen a student project that took 1000 table tennis balls into space. Now students at Northeastern University’s Action Lab have developed a haptic controller to simulate a ping pong paddle hitting a ball. An encoder syncs up a beaten up table tennis racket with a screen to allow the virtual and real worlds to meet. The table tennis simulator reminds us of the classic video game Pong. The paddle is connected to a line that measures force so you can hit the ball harder or softer. Check out the video below:
