Last week, Red Bull and High Cascade Snowboard Camp threw the 1st ever “Spring Ping” – an amateur ping pong competition hosted by ping pong professional Daniel Picciotto. The competition was a friendly vibe, with all competitors coming fresh off the mountain from the Banked Slalom race happening on the same day. High Cascade is in the midst of a resort take over at Mountain Creek’s terrain park. Mountain Creek is the premier terrain park (rails, jumps, bonks, etc) for snowboarding and free skiing and Red Bull has a long history supporting them. High Cascade is the number 1 snowboard camp, located in Mt. Hood, Oregon that operates over the summer. Mt. Hood is a glacier, and the snow remains throughout the summer, but the warm temperatures make it conducive to learning a whole bunch of new snowboard tricks. At the end of the day, High Cascade gave away boards, boots, bindings, gear, and a couple hundred bucks to the top competitors. The event was created for the local snowboard scene and the hope is to grow it past local snowboard talent and into an annual ping pong jam fest.
