“The Ryder Cup is all about ping-pong, everybody.”
— 2012 Masters champion Bubba Watson.

The US Ryder Cup team lost to Europe on an agonizing final day at the Medinah Country Club in Illinois. That crushing defeat aside, the US used table tennis to bond off the course and there is clearly rivalry in the locker room.

“We all know who the best ping-pong player on our team is, and that’s (Matt) Kuchar,” said Steve Stricker.

Bubba Watson added, “Me and Jason Dufner dominated (Ryder Cup vice captain Jeff) Sluman and Mickelson yesterday in doubles, and Mickelson is still mad about it.” Phil Mickelson brought his own table tennis racquet to the Ryder Cup. This is just another example of the power of ping-pong and how it brings people together.

– Do you know any other teams that use ping-pong to bond off the field?
– How does it positively affect the team and players?
